Who’s who Judy, Meredithe, Irene and Elsie

Had a really busy week again in the shop with a load of visitors and customers,  Judy Newman was teaching a full house on Monday , the paparazzi turned up (that would be the divine Ms M) along with her lovely sewing friends,  Elsie arrived all wrapped up and Irene B popped in chasing more fabric(she has a few more designs coming out soon and lucky me l will have Auntie Green quilt in the shop soon…….yay.

Each of them bringing there own form of mischief, but as always very supportive,  have a read of their blogs and you will see what l mean.(Use the side bar for access)

But my biggest problem was Elsie… what a surprise as she is one of Jodies girls..

and butter would’nt melt in her mouth,  Elsie Cabbage enjoying some freedom before Arthur arrives……….lots of patterns available at the shop……..Gee Jodie is talented……..

More boxes……

Precuts arrived :  Ticklish and Noteworthy

Also l now have in stock some new design kits from Dali Zakka,  the kits are well designed and packaged and can be made by hand  (no sewing machine required) and gee the box they came in was huge….

The new French General Collection La Belle Fleur  has hit the shelves at the shop  it is up to the usual great standard of the French General People. I will get some pics on next week.

Having a great long weekend……….

Cheers Mary

Cruzin

It sometimes can be a bit boring (not ever ever), if there are no deliveries???????.  (it has been Christmas)

Then a box arrives and l think what the hell did l order 3 months ago and for this delivery this is what the box exposed…

Cruzin by Barb Jones of Quilt Soup.

As you can see its fresh, light and great  now the only question is where do l put it?????

Sweet Heart houses Block of the Month is nearly ready  have a look at the BOM area of the website to see what its all about…………

Cheers Mary

PS Bring on the boxes…………

Redwork and Marmalade

It was a great week back at the shop, and very busy firstly l had to put the shop back together,  as l had some changes done over the break so that was great fun. And what was more interesting are the customers who knew that some thing was different but couldnt actually work out what l had done.  So if l remember this week l will take some photos to show you whats been done………

I managed to get the new Bonnie and Camille  collection called Marmalade onto the shelves, it is a great collection with  bright colours  the good thing to know is that this collection can be used with their previous collection  Vintage Rose so its a very clever way of designing and helpful to fabric collectors…………

Over the hols, l finished another quilt from the book called The Redwork Circus by Jenny McWhinney, its just packed with projects and the quilt design is a new venture for her as she is more known for her threadwork designs, so arent we the lucky ones.

Another good thing about this quilt, is l used all fabrics that l had at home, it suits red fabrics that have white backgrounds or cream backgrounds so l felt quite thrifty using the fabric from home.  Maybe that is more of a reflection of what l actually have at home???  The book is currently in stock and of course l have heaps of reds on the shelf at the shop that can be used……………

What will 2013 bring???

Just had the best break, which consisted of no overseas travel just local,       lots of family that you want around,        lots of cooking that you choose to do, not have to do ,       lots of pleasurable chores that l did around the house including gardening and directing Mr P n Q with his (my) jobs………, cleaning up my sewing room (what else do you do when its boiling hot……),    and of course l did heaps of sewing actually finishing projects ready for the New Year.

I spent some time at the shop while it was closed, hiding from travellers who thought l was open, which was a bit hard when l was rearranging the shop to freshen things up . Here is one of my annual jobs the new sign for out the front of the shop……….

Anyway 2012 finished very well (apart from my dogs going nuts with the local fireworks that continued well past midnight thanks to those thoughtful people) .

No New Years resolutions were made, but l will continue doing what l love, cos l can………………..I finished Cheeky Monkey which was one of my projects…….it was great fun stuffing the legs…………

Cheers Mary
