A Kawandi is a utility quilt made by the Siddi people who are African diaspora of India.
The authenticity of this form of quilt making is extremely important, especially when using the name Kawandi.
Irene provides a unique perspective, she is Indian and her heritage is partly Siddi.
Part of your Kawandi experience will be hearing of the history of the Siddi woman and seeing some examples of original quilts.
You will create a small utility quilt using the authentic methods…with modern tools.
Irene has been teaching since 2007, Australia wide and Internationally.
A published author of the Quiltmania book “Focus on Quilts.”
A great designer whose speciality is Needle Turn Applique, and her Clam
Shell method using templates is always popular.
