Aiming for monthly posts

When l look at the date of my last post, l think damn l thought l was more up to date but the sorry fact is that l am not up to date in blog land.  Thats because l am hooked on Instagram and find that quicker and easier.

That doesnt mean that l am  not going to blog any more…..it means that l have to get better at this whole social media thingo……

Anyway here are some catch up photos.

004jpg007jpg008jpg009jpg010jpgI am really pleased to be stocking some of Bev Macleans cards, Bev is a local artist ( and a great chick) and the cards are prints of her original artworks.  So they are now available on the counter.

As you can see l have a lot of new brights in and l have had to rearrange to fit the new repros in as well.

Anyway thats it for now.

Irene Blancks quilt new quilt launch wash up….

Well a very busy day was spent on Saturday with Irene Blanck’s new quilt launch and display.

I had great fun getting the classroom ready to display the quilts. and l must extend my thanks to James at The Gisborne Flower Shoppe who not only provided the flowers but also allowed me to pull apart his shop to get props for the day.

A steady and regular stream of lookers passed through the door so thankyou to those people who called in for a look and a spend.

So l thought you might like to see some photos.

002jpgThis pic is of one of Irenes new quilts called Melon, Lime and Bitters.  This pattern is in one of Irenes new forms of quick and easy patterns called “Eye Candy”

004jpgThe grey quilt on the left (yep didnt think to take a pic straight on) is another newby  called Miz Kelly.  Yep named after me…it has taken a lot of nagging to get one named after me.  My only concern is that Irene keeps mentioning 50 shades of Grey   (for goodness sake there is only 3) so l dont know what she is on about????????

The room looks great l think…..

003jpgand of course a lot of the older quilts were on display  this one is Auntie Green……

008jpgMosaics  always does well with the customers……for the bird lovers……

009jpgSpring time Promise one of Irenes not finished quilts… was so successful that it will now have to be finished and not thrown into the cupboard abyss…….

006jpgand there was nibbles, apparently the meringues were great………it was yum and l great fun making the bits, a surprise for Irene.

So it was all good and l was ever so glad to get my shoes off, have a Bacardi, and lie on the couch…….and then l had to unpack the car  aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.

Forgot to mention all of the patterns are available from the shop.

Thanks Irene for making such great quilts……….a great focus on quilts… boom.

Cheers Mary

Irene Blanck s new quilt launch

001jpgJust fresh to the shelves, is Kaffe Fassett’s new collection The Collective.  Its just so luscious and works well with any other of Kaffe’s collections………

So the next news is that l have an open house at the shop on Saturday 7 June 2014  from 10.00 – 2.00pm for the launch of two of Irene Blancks new quilts.

A display of Irenes quilts complete with her new quilts will be in the classroom and of course her new patterns will be available…she may even sign your copy if you want………

Light refreshments will be available.

Hope to see you there.

Wool at last…..

Its been a bit of a journey already, but at last the wool is out on the newly built wool wall….l am so happy with it, is it bad to select wool on its colour!!!!!!!!!

Anyway the wool collection will continue to be a work in progress, so at the moment l have Totem, Sublime, Baby Bamboo, Country Naturals, California, Baby Fairisle, Gigante and Zauberball.

Lots of books and leaflets are already in and the knitting needles and crochets hooks have always been in stock.  So lets see what happens..

004jpg 005jpgSo while all of the wool stuff was happening more fabric stock arrived.

One Four One Four – todays date-what tha’

If you bothered to take the time to write todays date down it would be” one four one four” l am sure that there is some astrological meaning to that…. but realistically its the first day of april,  month four of the year aaaaaahhhhh where is this time going…..a quarter of the year almost gone,  Easter creeping up, Round 3 of the AFL , Autumn in full swing but still with some unusual hot days, school holidays approaching.

Its great to be alive…..

and the wool is nearly here…….

Well The new French General Collection has arrived Le Bouquet Francais,

002jpg003jpgthe pictures are of the red and blue shades, but there is also a butter shade, and a mauve (grey thanks midnight madness). It is up to the usual high standard we have come to like about the French General designers.

It is in the shop at the moment and is moving very fast……so dont dilly dally.  There is a pattern available , that uses the blues in the collection.  I have a kit available or just the pattern.

001jpgJust thought l needed to show you my new range of zips, pretty much covers all varieties of zips now…..

004jpgand look who has turned up, Jodie Carletons new pattern  Wooden Hearts another duo pattern,  where does this girl get her ideas, very clever thankyou Jodie again.

I had my first Midnight Madness group last Friday, it was a hoot, the company was great, the food perfect and believe it or not we actually got a lot of sewing done.  Lots of lollies were eaten and champers sipped.

The date for the next one has been set……….thanks to Irene for her help…….

Well l think thats all for the moment  got lots of sewing to do.

Cheers Mary

Fabric Bliss

A long time in between posts does not represent no fabric arriving but me being a tad busy to sit at the computer downloading pics, but after the morning cooking to fill the freezer and feeling very pleased with myself, l thought l would continue the good form.

So here are some new fabrics.

001jpgThis collection is called Printemps by 3 sisters, just so soft and pretty, couldnt resist a photo with my cabinets….

002jpgThis is a retro 30s collection, a bit blurry(my photography) but you get the gist of the collection.

009jpgA repro collection called Renaissance Revival.

Hopefully  the supplier is still on target for the wool to arrive in April, l think fingers will need to be crossed……..

Cheers Mary

Ginger And Blue

Jodie Carleton is coming to play at the shop on  Saturday 26 April  10.00am-3.00pm. Jodie will be running a workshop helping you to make her new pattern Ginger and Blue

Bookings are being taken now.  Its a great way to spend a lovely Saturday in my beautiful new big classroom.

002jpgThere have been lots of rep visits last week, ordering lots more fabric that will be due May-July.  It does your head in at times because you have to remember what you have already organised, also the dates that the fabric is due doesnt always match to when you get it, so at times you have holes in your stock.  Anyway its always fun so over the next month or so lots will be turning up including Liberty and and the start of my new wool stock fingers crossed.

Cheers Mary
