blogging it up

A huge amount of time just goes trawling through blogs and my big fascination Pinterest, like today l have spent the last hour playing with Pinterest looking at different topics…but that doesnt get the washing hung out, the bed remade , the vacuming done or the grocery shopping done.  What it does do though is give you some time to yourself, inspiration and talking points so the way l figure that, is that it cannot be bad for you.

002jpgA great collection arrived called” Gray matters”its fun.

001jpgthe colour on this post isnt great  not sure why but its part of the “Gray matters” collection.

collage locally grownYes l know that l have stated before that “l dont do animals” but l couldnt resist a new collecton called  Locally Grown.  It has a very retro look to it and teams up very well with Linen.

006jpgand l finished the quilt using “Circa”. As the collection is very busy and the flowers big, l just cut triangles using a Victorian Textiles template.  So l am quite happy with it.

I think thats all for today.

Space walk……….its how l feel sometimes

A little while ago l purchased some Glow in the Dark fabric  yes a bit odd for me but l was fascinated by it….it does actually glow in the dark……

So l just had to make Space Walk……by Two Matching Pegs

007

The stars and the “afterburners” are made using the fabric     now how to photograph the glow is still a work in progress.

Anyway the quilt and the fabric will be in the shop this week.

Cheers Mary

Ps.  Yes l deleted the spacewalkers  more obsessed with the glow in the dark fabric……..

Where does the time go…..

It seems ages since l posted oh well thats what happens when you are busy…

So this is what has been happening

More fabric arrived:

002jpgMill Series  a reproduction collection which has a fabulous lavender colour in it.

003jpgof course there are plenty of other colours  as its a big collection.

004jpgCirca by Jennifer Pagnelli  also arrived a great collection that has a vintage feel to it, the quilt l made is coming……..

005jpgI think l mentioned a while ago that my lovely rep gave me some Liberty fabric  (the Art Series) and l was excited about using the fabric , so out came the book Material Obsession 1,   you know the Sarah Fielke and Kathy Dougherty one.

Its been sitting on my shelf for a while (along with lots of other books) so l found this quilt in it and thought that the 2 would be a great mix… So its all finished and will be in the shop this week. Kerrie did a great job quilting it and basically l am thrilled with the finished project. Its always nice to complete a quilt that you have always wanted to do.

The Liberty fabric was awesome to use, and the colours fantastic…….and yes l still have some of the fabric left in the shop.

001jpgAnother collection of fabric called Owl Wonderful turned up, it has this great Owl panel so l whipped up a little quilt…………..

Any way l think all of this info empties the in basket for a day or two. So enjoy.

Cheers Mary

Dear William Block of the Month

Janine has done a fabulous job making the  quilt to display the new Block of the Month  Dear William by Michele Hill.

Its now in the front window and the block of the month is available for sale.

So last week as l was serving a customer, the customer spied some fabric pieces l had on the messy bench beside the cash register.

The fabric she said is mine, a tad puzzled as l had not even packaged them, so l thought what is she talking about.

I laughed it off thinking that l had misunderstood what she said, but no…………it was her fabric she designed it……aaaaaaahhhhhhhh it was Michele Hill.

What a very genuine lady who was normal…..(which is always a blessing) out of sheer excitement l just kept firing questions at her all of which she happily answered.

Did you know that in her previous life she was a nurse, and she loves sewing  and she is totally overwhelmed with her success……..

It was just great to meet her and even very touching that she chose to come into my shop and purchase goods, as l said thankyou she said well if we dont support our shops they will close. How many people are that thoughful.

004jpg

lots of other bits also arrived.

002jpgMaze  as bright as……

003jpgAnimal Friends  l also have a huge range of new brights spots, stripes, wire  which all work great with this fabric.

Cheers for now.

Story Book Classics

002jpgAt last the very very nice 1930s collection of fabric called Story Book Classics is on the shelf, this is one of the better 1930s collections  and l have had great fun getting it all out of the boxes.

003jpgThe trouble l had was fitting it all in…..

001jpgand the all encompassing Irene Blanck called in and dropped off her Gardenhurst quilt another fine example of needleturn applique.  Just waiting for the patterns to arrive.

Cheers Mary

PS: I have email issues at the moment ,its not working  (the email that is)  so apologies for that, it appears gremlins are involved hope to have it fixed soon  so if you need me just ring the shop.

How do you measure success……..

A lovely collection of fabric called has been put out onto the shelves, PB&J very different but strong colours here is a sample.

001jpg002jpgDo you measure success on what you finish or what you start or how it is admired or whether you receive enormous satisfaction from getting something done or do you just plain and simple like it and thats all that matters… it is a very interesting talking point, with a varied point of view.  Lets face it it is a personal point of view…..

But when Jan Kerton comes for her   classes, success is measured not by what is finished but by the fun that every class member has and the wonder of how long does one have to live to be able to do it all.                                                                  Adele managed to get her hippos finished, and the result is fantastic .

008jpgJust a little bit different using Red Wool/cashmere  (in stock at the shop).

I rest my case…………….

Jan has a couple more new designs which should be ready shortly  Owls and Tigers. I will let you know when they are in.

Cheers Mary

Dance of the Heart sums it up……..

Terrific Easter was had by all the the PnQ household, lots of visitors, food, chocolate, (maybe a little alcohol) a football drought over(Go Cats), some odd jobs done , sewing done, a sleep in, roaming around in pjs for a while.

So l thought l had better show you what lve been up to…..l have spent some 2 hours trawling through sites on the computer   l so hate that when l get hooked…..

005jpgDance of the Heart  by Rosalie Quinlan got finished,

001jpgAnother childs play mat got finished l think l am in love with these….they are just so simple  find a panel if its not big enough for what you want add a border to the top and bottom place some batting behind that and quilt with cotton perle(its quick by using a thicker thread) then using spray baste put a piece of laminated fabric on the back and then trim to size and then bind it using the pre-made binding that l have in the shop and thats it….great present……

002jpgSitting around for some time l have had these iron on transfers from the Aunt Marthas range and l was always a bit stuck as to what to do, so l needed a new tablecloth.

So l cut out the tranfers from the packet and then ironed them onto a feed sack that l had(its huge) and then started to embroider the picture.

004jpgand the first one is done..l used x 6 strands of DMC in really bright colours.  The only negative to the process is that the lines can be a bit thick if you keep the iron on too long.  You would think l would know that by now………

So when l get further down the track l will show you…….

Cheers Mary
